The etiquette around what should be a text, a phone call, or an in-person conversation can seem unclear. So much is dependent on the relationship you have with the other person and what technological era they grew up in. There is one rule-of-thumb that transcends generations, though, says Daniel Post Senning, co-author of "Emily Post's Etiquette: The Centennial Edition." "Any conversation that is likely to be emotionally charged, you want to give yourself the best chance possible to bring all your emotional tools to it," he says. Tone, volume, and body language can all help alter how a message is received and can't be conveyed over text.

The order in which the planets will align on Sunday is Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus, Mars, Neptune and Saturn, and they will be accompanied by a crescent moon. The alignment will be visible to sky-watchers everywhere, but the ideal date to see the planets with the closest alignment might differ depending on where you are in the world. Planetary alignments: What to knowIt’s important to note that this alignment is not happening in space, but just in the sky as seen from our planet. This kind of planetary alignment is in fact not rare at all. “Jupiter will be the easiest to spot, because it’ll be the brightest thing in the sky after the moon,” Pattle said.

CNN —The story of the past 27 months since Russia invaded Ukraine has been one of crumbling taboos. Despite securing more weapons from the United States last month, Ukraine has not been able to use them as it pleases. Red lines fadeThe US is joining the United Kingdom, France, Germany and several others in removing restrictions on how Ukraine uses the weapons it is given. Before Biden gave the green light, Putin had made veiled nuclear threats to countries considering allowing Ukraine to strike Russia with their weapons. Washington CNN —Former President Donald Trump has uttered multiple false or misleading claims about his Manhattan criminal trial this week as the trial has neared a conclusion. An “advice of counsel” defense typically requires the defendant to waive attorney-client privilege. This Court can not endorse such a tactic.” Therefore, Merchan ruled, Trump could not invoke or even suggest a “presence of counsel” defense in the trial. Prosecutors provided three theories of what unlawful means Trump used. After Merchan refused last week to change his mind, Trump’s defense decided not to call Smith as a witness.

Editor’s Note: This story contains graphic and disturbing descriptions of sexual violence. Everywhere that Russian troops were located, we’re seeing cases of sexual violence and gender-based violence. But the real scale of sexual violence committed during the war may never come to light. Ukrainian officials say that it is difficult, but not impossible, to track down individual perpetrators of sexual violence crimes. Some survivors of sexual violence committed by the Bosnian Serb army during the Bosnian war in the early 1990s are only now coming forward.

In making an honest go at reviving the movie western, Viggo Mortensen — who directed, wrote and stars in “The Dead Don’t Hurt,” in addition to composing its score — delivers a few different westerns in one. Not counting a deathbed prologue, the film initially seems to be staking out a claim in the law-and-order corner of the genre. Mortensen, as a bereaved sheriff named Holger Olsen, appears skeptical when a town dullard stands accused of six murders and apparently claimed not to remember any of them. The local courthouse — a makeshift affair cobbled together in the saloon — is not the most forgiving place for the wrongfully accused, or for anyone. We’ve already seen the killer.

The U.S. economy has been an enigma over the past few years. The job market is booming, and consumers are still spending, which is usually a sign of optimism. But if you ask Americans, many will tell you that they feel bad about the economy and are unhappy about President Biden’s economic record. And while a measure of sentiment produced by the Conference Board improved in May, the survey showed that expectations remained shaky. More than half of registered voters in six battleground states rated the economy as “poor” in a recent poll by The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer and Siena College.

Eyes being on Rafah has not stopped the violence, wrote scientist Ayesha Khan on Instagram. The phrase “All Eyes on Rafah” has been appearing in various graphics and images associated with the war in Gaza for months and is not necessarily tied to this specific viral image. “Because you’re directing everyone’s gaze to an image that doesn’t really show the horror of what happens in conflict zones.”What does ‘All Eyes on Rafah’ mean? Others have pointed out that the image does not actually include the words “Palestine” or “Gaza” — names that have been widely politicized even before October 7. “Rafah does not have the immediate name recognition for people who haven’t been paying attention,” said writer Heben Nigatu on X.
